Two men are in crit­i­cal con­di­tion and a 10-year-old is be­ing treat­ed at the hos­pi­tal af­ter eight peo­ple were shot in Mal­ick, Barataria on Sun­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, around 10:15 pm res­i­dents of Ninth Street, Sixth Av­enue, Mal­ick were hav­ing a par­ty fol­low­ing an Eman­ci­pa­tion Sport and Fam­i­ly Day in the area, when a white Hyundai ve­hi­cle drove up the street and two men came out and opened fire with high-pow­ered firearms.

CCTV footage of the in­ci­dent showed res­i­dents scam­per­ing for safe­ty as the gun­men opened fire in­dis­crim­i­nate­ly in all di­rec­tions.

The footage al­so showed a res­i­dent, who was in the crowd run­ning to safe­ty, draw­ing a gun and re­turn­ing fire.
